It surprises me how there is no consistency in job titles for web related roles - one company's Web Designer is another company's Front-end Developer. "From Tags to Riches: Life After Code" is all about career paths for coders / designers and I'm hoping it will delve into some of these problems.
Scott Gledhill, speaker for “From Tags to Riches: Life After Code” has written a mini survival guide for us south by south-west virgins and it would appear we might have already made a couple of common mistakes!
I first came across the Golden ratio was when I read The Da Vinci code. It has become one of the few things I remember from the book and the concept still fascinates me to this day... are science and art interlinked? If so, should we be using mathematics to create web designs?
SXSWi is fast approaching and in less than 2 weeks we will be jetting off to (hopefully) sunny Austin. Between now and then we will be posting various articles we are calling highlights - quick overviews of the panels and events we are looking forward to the most.
We went through the panels we want to attend today after the details were finalised on the sxsw site. There are a lot of sessions at sxsw and it only dawned on me how much we are going to have to take in at the conference yet how much we will also miss.
One of the first questions asked when attending any Internet related conference is usually "what freebies will I get?" (Web Professionals are a greedy lot!).
We'll be flying out to Austin (via Houston) from Gatwick on the 8th March and will be staying in Austin until 14th March.
The main purpose for this blog is for us to share our learnings and experiences of SXSWi 2007.
To help the planning of panels at SxSW all applicants have been asked to vote for the talks they would be interested in attending. Although this effectively is an "oh that sounds cool" exercise it does give an insight to the type of topics Paul and I are interested in and likely to attend.
Well SxSW is considered one of the leading Internet related conferences in the world. Most people have heard about the SxSW music festival (on the week after the Interactive one) but SxSW is about different forms of media and is based around three distinct streams, Interactive, Film and Music.
